UCLan Dance Club has released a naked calendar in an attempt to raise £1000 for breast cancer. Following Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the group of dancers decided to offer an alternative way of fundraising, differing from your usual cake sales and bucket collections.

Despite apprehensions about taking their clothes off, the club decided to produce the calendar which is in the same vein as the one produced by the Women’s Institute. “Everyone was very body conscious – but we were all in it together,” said Charlie Willcock, UCLan Dance Club’s fundraiser. David Parker writes for the University of Sheffield’s Forge Press on a charity calendar for the Dig Deep challenge:

Students from the University of Sheffield braved the cold by stripping naked for a calendar to raise money for water development projects in Africa.

The calendar has received the backing of on-screen Calendar Girls Dame Helen Mirren and Julie Walters, who have provided signed photographs for the charity to sell.

The 15 students, who are all volunteers for Dig Deep, hope to raise at least £1,500 for the charity, which works with communities in Kenya to provide sustainable access to clean water and fuel. Full story here.

This year sees the return of the well-established Athletics Union: STRIPPED calendar. Once again, 12 teams from across the AU bore all (well, almost) for charity. Women and Men’s Rugby, Netball, Ladies Golf, Women’s Lacrosse, Women and Men’s Football, Waterpolo, Cycling, Snowsports, Trampolining and the Polo Club, at various secret locations across Fife, braved the bitter Scottish weather to show exactly what our Saints Sport athletes are made of.
