Following the story before Christmas about a student who was seriously injured after being hit by a double decker outside a students’ union all-day drinks promotion, David Parker reports on the latest news from the investigation for the University of Sheffield’s Forge Press:
A student who was hit by a double-decker bus moments after leaving Bar One Christmas Day said that she “had never been so drunk”, police reports state.
The 18-year-old teenager, a first year student from Suffolk, suffered a punctured lung and serious head injuries after being struck on Glossop Road a fortnight ago. Her condition is now “serious but improving”.
South Yorkshire Police has since called for a review into Bar One’s licence to sell alcohol, which will go before the council’s licencing committee on January 5.
The police report reveals that the student had a promotional cup in her handbag marked “Legendary Christmas Event”.
The report also reveals that at midday she said via social media that she “had never been so drunk”.
