After taking some time to read all of your entries we are thrilled to be able to announce the shortlist. In no particular order, the student bloggers who have made the final five are:

The Guardian‘s Universities Editor Judy Friedberg is selecting the winner and runners-up from the shortlist.
Because of the high standard of entries – and to mark the launch of the Mortarboard blog‘s brand new Blogging Students series (more on this to come) – guardian.co.uk will now be publishing the winning entry and two runners up.
The first of the two runners-up will be announced and published on Wednesday, January 11, with the second published on Friday, January 13.
The winning entry will be published on Tuesday, January 17.
