Former uni halls being sold as flats to golf-lovers for up to £7.3m each

For St Andrews students still without a home for the coming year, fear not. The recently refurbished Hamilton Grand apartments are currently up for sale, towering above the Royal and Ancient club house and offering “the best view in golf”.

After being requisitioned as RAF headquarters in the Second World War, the prime piece of real estate became unlikely student accommodation for more than half a century.

However, after performing the role of a hotel, the building was bought in 2009 by US billionaire Herb Kohler’s company and now offers 26 of the most expensive apartments in Scotland. Prices start from £2.2m all the way up to a penthouse, which will set you back £7.3m.
