Five potential stars of Euro 2012

The European Championships in Poland and Ukraine are likely to provide thrilling entertainment for all teams involved, and some of Europe’s finest stars will be under the spotlight. Of course, there are players that have had emphatic seasons at club level and will be expected to shine at the Euros. Robin van Persie and Cristiano Ronaldo provide examples of this, but the following list outlines players who will be looking to get themselves noticed at the finals.

1 – Robert Lewandowski – Poland – Striker

Poland will be looking to impress during Euro 2012, and as joint-hosts will be aiming to finish respectably. One player that will certainly boost their chances is Robert Lewandowski. The 23-year-old had a remarkable 2011-12 season with Borussia Dortmund, scoring 30 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions…

2 – Olivier Giroud – France – Striker

Olivier Giroud has fought his way into the French squad after a superb season. Montpellier were crowned shock champions of Ligue 1, despite being 80/1 outsiders at the start of the season. Giroud managed 21 league goals – finishing joint top scorer with PSG’s Brazilian forward Nene.
