The University of Lincoln’s Rosie Kelly writes for The National Student on why a new trend started by a reality TV star has sparked a backlash from Twitter users:

Last week hundreds of girls found themselves in that situation after a Twitter trend was sparked by Geordie Shore star Gary Beadle.

When, a few days ago, he tweeted: “How many people r doing the walk of shame hahahaha #wakeupwitharandom #awkwardtaxihome”, the response he received was staggering.

Within minutes, hundreds of men had replied using the hashtag #bedofshame to tweet photos of themselves in bed, with the previous night’s ‘conquest’ in the background.
